Venezuela: A potential Recovery Plan

As we have seen in the Fundamentals section of this site, the Venezuelan economy is in one of the worst shapes in the world only comparable to war economies in Africa and the Middle East.

Even in this apocalyptic scenario, Venezuela have a series of advantages that if well  used can signal the trend of recovery in the medium term.

Lets be honest, there is not short term solution to a massive destruction of GDP like Venezuela has suffered during the last 20 years. This means that any recovery plan must be based on a long term strategic plan that allows to gave milestones in the short, medium and long term.

These phases and sequential steps will setup the objectives to do a bottom-up building of a sustainable economy that impacts ALL citizens

The total recovery programme should look at a 10-15 years horizon.

I have seen an interesting proposal from a Harvard team that can be summarized in  6 main pillars: (i) Economy, (ii) Industry & Agriculture, (iii) Social reforms, (iv) Energy & Infra, (v) Safety & Defense and (vi) recovery of institutional empowerment of the law.   

So combining short and long term actions is these six pillars can pave the path for a restructuring and constitute a real Recovery Plan…

In the following sections I will start to develop these lines of thinking and update them as new data or more detailed analysis arises. I will update these continuously to have live recovery programme
